Some tourist routes recommended for those who want to admire the city of Orvieto and its beautiful area. The itineraries in Orvieto are here divided between those to do directly walk starting from the city and so do not require transport or bicycle routes or routes by car around Orvieto. Still others are thematic, based on the type of tourist and their own interest such as archaeological, natural, religious or sports.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is the main place of Catholic worship in Orvieto.
You can reach by car heading towards Bagnoregio Bolsena and turning near the road indicated for the country. Bagnoregio is located on a high tufa and presents a historical center which can be accessed through the Porta Albana, dating from the second half of the sixteenth century. On the left you can also admire the small Church of St. Bonaventure. Walk along Via Roma to Piazza Cavour, where the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, built in the late sixteenth century. Continue along Corso Mazzini, up to the Town Hall. Behind the building is the Piazza Plebiscito and, at the bottom, you will see the Church of St. Augustine (XI-XIV sec.). Take the Avenue Agosti and reach the lookout that will give the first glimpse of Civita di Bagnoregio, that will leave you breathless.
Bagnoregio you can reach the hamlet Civita di Bagnoregio only by taking the car and leaving the car park. Then you have to walk about 300 meters uphill before entering what is called “the dying city” because of erosion that are reducing the hill on which it stands. Walking freely through the streets of the village, which offer suggestions really unique, opening up the view of the landscape, natural spectacle not to be missed.
Before leaving, stop to eat at one of the quaint restaurants and trattorias of the place, as the Restaurant Alma Civita, created within an old tower of the village.
Now continue the tour to San Lorenzo Nuovo, about 27 Km. Leaving Bagnoregio, take the Provincial Road 6, after 600 meters you will have to get onto the provincial road 54 and continue for 5 km, then turn right on SR71 and, after 4 Km Continue on SS74.
